Water allocation projects郾 The yearly investment for water allocation projects
reached to 464郾 81 billion Yuan郾 The completed investment had accumulated to
259郾 06 billion Yuan, accounting for 55郾 7% of the total郾 The initiated projects of the
year include Water Diversion from Yangtze to Huaihe River, Phase鄄III Water
Diversion to Zhoushan Island, Water Supply to Pingtan and Minjiang River Estuary,
Irrigated Areas of Chaishitan Reservoir, Pengchuan Irrigation District of Wudu Water
Diversion Scheme in Sichuan Province, Phase鄄II Irrigation District of Liaofang
Multipurpose Water Project in Jiangxi, West Main Canal and Irrigation District of
Water Diversion Project from Datong River to Huang Basin in Qinghai郾 The projects in
full operation include Water Diversion from Han River to Wei River, Water Supply to
North of Hubei, Phase鄄II Tao River Water Diversion in Gansu, Jiayan Water Complex
in Guizhou and Main Works of Water Supply Scheme to Northwest of Guizhou郾

Irrigation, drainage and rural water supply郾 The completed investment for
strengthening and improving safe drinking water supply reached 24郾 00 billion Yuan,
among which 3郾 00 billion Yuan from central government subsidy, with a beneficial
population of 39郾 00 million of which 6郾 00 million listed in national plan for poverty
reduction郾 By the end of 2016, the rural population access to tap water supply
made up a percentage of 79郾 0% 郾 The Central Government allocated 16郾 15 billion
Yuan ( including 15郾 45 billion Yuan listed in Key Water Project) for construction of
irrigation systems, rehabilitation of 164 large irrigation districts for water saving
purpose, newly鄄construction of 13 irrigation districts and rehabilitation of large
pumping stations in 8 provinces ( autonomous regions) . There were 36郾 69 billion
Yuan allocated to the construction of small鄄scale farmland waterworks for irrigation
and drainage and rural water supply, in the respects of highly鄄efficient water saving
irrigation, counterpart system for on鄄farm irrigation system, as well as small water
cellars, ponds, pumping stations, weirs and canals郾 The newly鄄added effective
irrigated area reached 1郯 561郯 000 ha; new鄄added water鄄saving irrigated area was
2郯 495郯 000 ha and newly鄄added highly鄄efficient water鄄saving irrigated area was
1郯 455郯 000 ha郾
