Reservoirs and water complexes郾 The number of reservoir in China reached
98郯 460, with a total storage capacity of 896郾 7 billion m3郾 Of which 720 belong to
large reservoirs with a total capacity of 716郾 6 billion m3 , accounting 79郾 9% of the
total; 3郯 890 medium鄄sized reservoirs with a total capacity of 109郾 6 billion m3 ,
accounting 12郾 2% of the total郾

Irrigation郾 Irrigation districts with an area equal or above 2郯 000 mu added to
22郯 689, with a total effective irrigated area of 37郾 208 million ha郾 In which, the
irrigation districts equal or above 500郯 000 mu reached 177, with a total irrigated
area of 12郾 335 million ha; the irrigation districts covering an area from 300郯 000 to
500郯 000 mu reached 281, with a total irrigated area of 5郾 430 million ha郾 By the end
of 2016, the total irrigated area and irrigated area of cultivated land reached to
73郾 177 million ha and 67郾 141 million ha respectively, taking 49郾 6% of the total
cultivated land in China郾 The areas with water鄄saving irrigation facilities totaled
32郾 847 million ha, among which 9郾 954 million ha equipped with sprinkler or micro
irrigation systems and 9郾 451 million ha installed low鄄pressure pipes郾
