quality standard and 76郾 9% of the total complied with the water quality standard for

national water function zones of major rivers and lakes郾

V. Flood Control and Drought Relief

In 2017, the overall damage caused by flood and water鄄logging disasters was
relatively less than other years, with an average loss rate was 0郾 26% of the year郾
A total of 5郾 196 million ha of cultivated land were affected by floods, 2郾 781 million
ha of farmland had no harvest, 55 million people affected, 316 people died, and
39 were missing郾 A total of 140郯 000 houses were destroyed and 104 cities

suffered from inundation郾 The disasters resulted in 214郾 3 billion Yuan of direct
economic losses, among which the losses with water infrastructures reached 34郾 5
billion Yuan郾 Provinces suffered from severe flooding include Hunan Province,
Jilin Province, Guangdong Province, Guangxi Autonomous Region, Jiangxi
Province, Hubei Province and Shaanxi Province郾 Death toll or people missing
caused by mountain flood took 64% of the total郾 The direct economic loss caused
by typhoons took 16% of the total loss as a result of flood and waterlogging
disasters郾
