Water science and technology郾 A total of 510 million Yuan had been allocated to
science and technology projects, including 16 special鄄subject and water鄄related
scientific research projects listed in the National Key Research and Development
Plan鄄Effective Development and Utilization of Water Resources, and 36
demonstration project for water technologies郾 There were 3 water technological
achievements won the National Sci鄄Tech Advance Award (1 first prize and 2 second
prize) and 1 project won the second prize of National Technological Innovation
Award郾 By the end of 2016, the numbers of national level or ministerial level labs
were 12, and technical research centers were 15郾 Special funds for procurement
and repairing of equipment of national scientific institutions amounted to 113郾 15
million Yuan郾 A total of 107郾 44 million Yuan had been allocated from central
government finance as operation expenses for basic scientific studies of public
research institutes郾 There were 847 currently valid ministerial norms and standards
and 151 under draft water鄄related technical standards郾 There were 81 proposed
technical norms and standards listed in the Table of Water鄄related Technical
Standard System郾

International cooperation郾 In 2016, a total of 25 multilateral cooperation and
exchange activities were successfully conducted, with 6 bilateral cooperation
agreement signed郾 Under the fixed mechanism for bilateral exchange of
government agencies, 10 meetings were organized and held郾 Two projects with
loans borrowed from international financial organizations had been undertaking, with
a total borrowing of 280 million US dollars郾 The World Bank has completed appraisal
of Key Plain and Low鄄lying Land Harness in Huai River Basin project with a loan
borrowing of 200 million US dollars郾 There were 5 governmental cooperation
projects under implementation and 1 special project for international cooperation
and science and technology at national level approved郾 There were 5 special
projects for international cooperation and science and technology at national level
under implementation, with a funding of 9郾 45 million Yuan郾
