4 ) During construction, construction observation shall be
done well so as to know the stress of the rock and support⁃
ing structures and the failure zone range of the surrounding
rock, and the displacement and deformation in the rock
and the supports shall be observed.
5) When there are adjacent parallel caverns, the rock wall
shall be reinforced first, and then excavate downwards.
6) When constructing at a cavern intersection of the power⁃
house, the intersection shall be reinforced first. The rein⁃
forcement length shall be decided according to the sur⁃
rounding rock condition. The range of control shall be over
the extension of weak surfaces, not be less than 5m.
3 9 2 The flood provention for powerhouse construction shall meet
the following requirements:
1 Flood prevention measures shall meet the requirements in Ar⁃
ticle 2 2 4 Further more, specific measures with a reliable
economical method shall be selected through calculation, to ensure
security in the food season.
2 If the powerhouse structures are used for water retaining, the
underwater concrete shall be poured upto the safety elevation before
the flood season. All the holes or openings under flood level shall be
covered.
3 A tailwater bulkhead gate shall not be used to close the tail⁃
race during the flood season. If needed, the gate shall be reinforced
according to the water levels.
3 9 3 Powerhouse area drainage shall meet the following require⁃
ments:
1 Drainage system within the powerhouse area shall be con⁃
structed in line with the design drawings. A temporary drainage system
within powerhouse area during construction shall be arranged before
