Memorandum of Understanding signed between China and Bangladesh upon Provision of Hydrological Information in Flood Season

  Ministry of Water Resources of China has built cooperation relationships with more than 60 countries, and signed water cooperation agreements and Memorandum of Understandings with over 40 countries.

  Ministry of Water Resources participated in more than 40 governmental and non-governmental international water organizations, and actively took part in important international water events, such as, World Water Forum, United Nations Secretary-General’s Advisory Board on Water and Sanitation, etc.  
   
 

 

 
 
  Utilization of Foreign Funds
 
 
· Since the 10th Five-Year Plan, approximately two billion US Dollar has been borrowed from international financial organizations, namely the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank, and used for water project construction.

· Ministry of Water Resources also builds good relationship with governmental departments of other countries and closely cooperates with DIFD, AusAID, Ministry of Transport, Public Works and Water Management of the Netherlands etc. to implement international cooperation projects in the aspects of integrated water resources management, water demand management, water entitlement and trading, water management reform and capacity building. The total grants for the projects reaches to over 100 million US dollars.

  Organizing International Water Events
 
 

International water events are held by the Ministry of Water Resources. The famous water events held in China include the Yellow River Forum, the Yangtze River Forum, Congresses of the International Commission on Large Dams, Conference of the International Soil Conservation Organization, Meeting of United Nations Secretary-General’s Advisory Board on Water and Sanitation and Hydropower Today Forum etc.
