Bureau of Rural Hydropower and Electrification Development

Main Functions: provide guidance to rural hydropower development, and formulate and implement policies, regulations, strategies, technical norms on rural hydropower development; organize investigations, and take charge of establishment of information system and survey of hydropower potential; direct formulation and implementation of rural hydropower development plan, manage permit for hydropower development in rural areas, study on charging the utilization of water energy resources; undertake investigation and approval of rural hydropower development programs subsidized by the Central Government, and involve in appraisal process of hydropower project construction programs; quality control and security of rural hydropower development projects, and participate in serious safety accident treatment; provide guidance on reform of management system for rural hydropower development and ownership system; provide guidance on construction and rehabilitation of hydropower network in rural areas; organize formulation and implementation of rural electrification plan, and direct construction and post-assessment of rural electrification counties; organize formulation and implementation of the plan of small hydropower for fuel; and provide guidance to technology advancement and training of rural hydropower, and undertake statistics of national water energy development in rural areas and hydropower complex for comprehensive utilization.
