Department of Soil and Water Conservation

Main functions: organize and coordinate nationwide soil and water conservation, and supervision and management of soil erosion; formulate policies, laws and regulations of soil and water conservation and supervise its implementation; draw up and implement plans and standards of soil and water conservation; be responsible for approval and supervision of soil and water conservation plans for large and middle size production and construction projects; be responsible for monitoring of soil erosion, and forecasting and provide regular information; take charge of management of national key erosion control areas, and direct and monitor implementation of national key soil and water conservation projects; coordinate national scientific and technical development plan on soil and water conservation; and extension of sciences and technologies, and provide guidance on establishment of service system for soil and water conservation.
