Department of Planning and Programming
Main functions: develop national strategies for water resources development and medium and long-term planning; organize special subject studies on water development and reform; organize and draft national comprehensive plans on water resources, river basin comprehensive plans and river basin flood control plans for key rivers and lakes; draft national and trans provincial medium and long-term plans of water supply and demand; be responsible for assessments of flood impacts towards important construction projects; take charge of checking and approval of immigrate resettlement plans of medium and large water projects approved by the Central Government; undertake tasks of reviewing and approving proposals, feasibility studies and preliminary designs of national key water projects; management of river estuary development and coastal land reclamation; make proposals for investment plans of the Central Government; be responsible for reviewing and approving water projects within national master plan and annual investment plan; and organize assessments of medium-term water resources programs, provide guidance on post-assessments of water projects and collect water-related data and statistics.
