On June 3, 2026, the 2026 China Water Expo, hosted by the Chinese Hydraulic Engineering Society and organized by the Anhui Hydraulic Engineering Society, convened in Hefei, Anhui Province. Zhou Xuewen, Chairman of the Chinese Hydraulic Engineering Society, and Wu Wenqing, Chief Engineer of the Ministry of Water Resources, attended the opening ceremony.
The 2026 China Water Expo aims to implement the arrangements made by the Ministry of Water Resources on improving the mechanisms for integrating of industry, academia, research and application, coordinating scientific and technological innovation with standards development, and promoting the application of scientific and technological achievements, so as to advance water-related scientific and technological innovation and support modernization in the water sector. Under the theme of “New Technologies for a Better Water Future”, the Expo features six exhibition zones: National Water Network Modernization, Digital Twin Water Innovation, Flood and Drought Disaster Prevention and Emergency Support, Water Ecosystem Restoration and River Basin Governance, Smart Irrigation Districts and Urban-Rural Water Supply Security, and Water-saving Industry Technologies and Equipment. Nearly 200 well-known research institutes, universities, water-related enterprises and other institutions in the sector are exhibiting cutting-edge water-related technologies, equipment, products, advanced techniques and construction methods, as well as intelligent management platforms.
The Expo also features a series of carefully planned events, including the release of group standards issued by the Chinese Hydraulic Engineering Society, on-site releases of application scenarios for cutting-edge innovative technologies, and thematic technical exchange sessions. These events bring together renowned experts from across the sector for case sharing, technical exchanges, and mutual learning.
Officials from relevant departments, renowned academicians and experts, distinguished designers, and representatives of leading water-related enterprises attended the Expo, where they toured the exhibition and engaged in technical exchanges and discussions. More than 10 thousand visits were recorded on the opening day.
