On May 12th, Mr. Li Guoying, Minister of Water Resources, met Mr. AlFadley, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, in Beijing. Two sides conducted in-depth exchanges on gearing up bilateral cooperation in water sector.
Minister Li stated that both China and Saudi Arabia are confronted with many similar challenges in water management in the context of intensified global climate change impacts. Ministry of Water Resources of China stands ready to scale up cooperation fields and step up pragmatic exchanges with water authorities of Saudi Arabia, as well as push forward policy dialogues, technical exchanges and project cooperation in the spheres with common interests such as water conservation and intensive utilization, groundwater management and protection, unconventional water utilization, among others, so as to make contributions to the development of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Saudi Arabia.
Minister AlFadley expressed his admiration for China’s achievements in water governance. He further hoped to learn from China’s water management concepts and successful experiences, and strengthen bilateral exchanges and cooperation in water sector, in order to improve water management level of Saudi Arabia in an all-round manner, and promote the bilateral water cooperation to a higher stage of development.
