On November 25, 2019, Mr. E Jingping, Minister of Water Resources, met with Vermerlin, Danish Minister of Environment, in Beijing. The two sides exchanged views on water resources management and protection, groundwater development and utilization, water efficiency, as well as upgrading bilateral cooperation in water sector.
Minsiter E Jingping conveyed his warm welcome towards Minister Vermerlin and his delegation. He noted, along with the rapid social and economic development, new issues such as water scarcity, water ecological deterioration and water environmental pollution become increasingly prominent. China and Denmark are confronted with similar challenges in the fields of development, utilization and protection of groundwater, regulation of river water resources, and increase of water use efficiency. Denmark has accumulated valuable experience and best practices which China is worth learning from. Ministry of Mater Resources of China stands ready to continuously upscale cooperation with Denmark, and carry technical exchanges in the aspects of groundwater supervision and informationization, to further push forward practical cooperation.
Mr. Vermerlin introduced relevant policies and practices of the Danish government in promoting green development, spoke highly of the Chinese achievements in promoting ecological civilization, and expected the two countries to continuously strengthen policy dialogue and share knowledge and experiences under the framework of China-EU water platform and gear up practical technical cooperation.
The two sides also exchanged ideas on updating MOU on water cooperation between China and Denmark.
