From May 16 to 21, 2016, the 84^th annual meeting of the International Dam Committee was commenced in Johannesburg, South Africa. Mr. Liu Ning, Vice Minister of Water Resources attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. Vice Minister Liu Ning introduced water problems and challenges currently confronted by China in his speech.

During the meeting period, Vice Minister Liu met Mokonyane, Minister of Water Resources and Health of South Africa, and both sides exchanged ideas on further strengthening bilateral water cooperation and signing MOU in the field of water resources between two governments. Besides, Ministry of Water Resources of China and Ministry of Water Resources and Health of South Africa jointly held the 5^th meeting of the China-South Africa Water Committee.

After the meeting, Vice Minister Liu officially visited Ethiopia and met Mr. Mekas, Minister of Water Resources, Irrigation and Power of Ethiopia. Two parties carried out deep discussions on signing MOU in the field of water resources between two Ministries and further enhancing the cooperation in the aspects of water resources management, water infrastructure, hydropower development, sharing of water technologies and experience, etc.
