On November 30th, 2015, Mr. Chen Lei, Minister of Water Resources, chaired the meeting to learn and implement the spirits of the Central Committee of CPC for poverty alleviation, as well as research and deploy the poverty reduction measures in water sector.

Minister Chen Lei pointed out that the Poverty Alleviation Work Conference of CPC Central Committee was a milestone meeting and placed water conservancy in a prominent position of poverty alleviation. This Conference made important deployments and raised specific requirements in the aspects of strengthening the construction of irrigation and water infrastructure, accelerating the construction of major water projects, implementing rural drinking water safety projects, enhancing the construction of disaster prevention system, as well as carrying out small hydropower development, water ecological management, slope farmland consolidation, reservoir resettlement and other important issues. Minister Chen stressed that the whole Ministry must focus on the implementation of poverty reduction, and practically do a good job in poverty alleviation and development in water sector.

Vice Ministers, Mr. Jiao Yong, Mr. Tian Xuebin, Mr. Liu Ning, Mr. Tian Ye and Mr. Zhou Xuewen, and Chief Engineer, Mr. Wang Hong, attended the meeting.
