Mr. Chen Lei, Minister of Water Resources met Madam Eva Kjer Hansen, Minister of Environment and food of Denmark, and two sides exchanged ideas on further enhancing bilateral cooperation in the field of water resources and promoting the collaboration under the Platform of China-EU Water Resources Exchange.
Chen Lei pointed out that China and Denmark had a long history of water cooperation, especially in recent years both sides signed the memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the field of water resources and the 2014-2018 action plan. Both sides carried out a series of fruitful pragmatic cooperation and strongly promoted the improvement of water resources management of two countries. As the EU Secretariat of the Platform of China-EU Water Resources Exchange, the Danish Ministry of Environment and Food closely cooperated with China to joint promote a series of high-level dialogues, scientific and technological exchanges and training activities. At present, the Platform has become an important mechanism for the exchange of water resources between China and EU, and was included in the 2020 strategic plan of China and EU cooperation
Minister Hansen made a high evaluation of the achievements of China in the fields of efficient utilization, conservation and protection of water resources. She pointed out that Denmark had accumulated rich experience in the aspects of water recycling, waste water treatment, groundwater management, soil pollution control, green city construction and other areas, and was willing to share and exchange latest results and technologies with the Chinese colleagues. She hoped that both countries could further strengthen bilateral cooperation in the fields of sponge city and urban flood control, and actively promote multilateral exchanges of water resources under the Platform of China-EU Water Resources Exchange.
The Danish Ambassador in China and officials from relevant departments of the Ministry also attended the meeting.
