China and Laos signed MOU in the field of water resources cooperation.

On November 7th, 2014, Mr. Jiao Yong, Vice Minister of Water Resources of China, and Ms. Momani, Vice Minister of Natural Resources and Environment of Laos, signed the memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Water Resources of the People's Republic of China and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the Lao People's Democratic Republic in the field of water resources cooperation in Vientiane of Laos.
In the meeting, Vice Minister Jiao Yong expressed that China was willing to share its successful experience and technologies in the fields of integrated water resources management and hydropower development with Laos. Vice Minister Momani stated that Laos sincerely hoped to learn the successful experience in the aspects of water utilization and hydropower development from China and would like to further strengthen the bilateral cooperation in the field of water resources with the signing of the MOU as an opportunity. In addition, the Lao side conveyed its gratitude to the Chinese side for its responsible hydropower development practices in Lancang River and the selfless assistance towards the downstream countries. Both sides agreed to further enhance the communication and coordination in the cooperation of the Lancang – Mekong River.
Form November 8th to 10th, 2014, Vice Minister Jiao Yong visited Laos, and met high officials from Ministry of Transportation, Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation, and relevant central departments of Laos.
